MYP students from LUYA International School recently participated in a beach cleanup activity at Dakeng Coast as part of their IB MYP Individuals and Societies and Sciences learning. Building on their study of SDG 14: Life Below Water, students explored the interdependent relationship between humans and nature through the key concepts of Sustainability, Systems, and Nature.<\/strong><\/p>

During the cleanup, students found that plastic waste\u2014including plastic bags, bottles, and food packaging\u2014made up the largest category of litter. Through field observation and waste classification, students recognized how everyday human behavior can affect marine ecosystems through interconnected environmental systems.<\/strong><\/p>

The activity also reflected the IB MYP philosophy of \u201cService as Learning,\u201d encouraging students to transform classroom knowledge into meaningful real-world action. By engaging directly with environmental issues, students developed stronger awareness of sustainability, responsibility, and the importance of protecting natural ecosystems for the future.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
