To help IB pre-DP students become familiar with technological applications and the process of creative thinking, LUYA International High School organized a game design course during the winter break. The students demonstrated remarkable learning outcomes and creative potential. Even though most of them started with no prior programming experience, they successfully completed their own game projects. Through interaction with AI assistants, they learned how to debug code and design program logic, enabling them to effectively bring their creative ideas to life.<\/span><\/p>

In this course, students developed a wide range of projects, including 2048<\/em>, City Skylines<\/em>, Abyss Runner<\/em>, 33 Game<\/em>, Dark Forest RPG<\/em>, and 1 Game<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>

The instructor gave special praise to Zeng You-Wei\u2019s RPG game for its well-structured logic, which required significant after-class effort to complete. Zeng Shi-An\u2019s work also showed a high level of dedication, as the student repeatedly revised and refined the program. All students invested considerable effort in user interface design as well. Lin Xin-Yun, Zhou Ling-An, Xie Mu-Cheng, and Chen You-Rui created refined interactive experiences and continued optimizing details even after completing their projects. Meanwhile, Yu Zhi-Xuan, Wu Hao-Yu, and Lai Sen-Qun demonstrated strong storytelling and narrative development.<\/span><\/p>

Lin Xin-Yun shared the challenges encountered during the process: \u201cAt the beginning, communicating with the AI was very difficult. I gave many instructions, but the AI didn\u2019t respond as expected. Later, with the AI assistant provided by the teacher, I learned how to refine my prompts and was finally able to realize my ideas smoothly.\u201d In this course, the AI assistant not only helped students debug their code but also explained programming concepts, guiding them with Chinese-language prompts to solve problems independently rather than directly giving answers.<\/span><\/p>

This AI-powered game design course placed strong emphasis on backend logical thinking and interface aesthetics. Students generated code through AI-assisted dialogue, completed visual designs and game logic, and supported one another through collaborative learning. The instructor noted that completing a fully functional game within just four days demonstrated the students\u2019 exceptional learning ability and creative potential. Additionally, compared with other groups, this IB pre-DP class showed a particularly strong spirit of collaboration and mutual support, which deserves recognition.<\/span><\/p>
